Today we’re going to take a look at the explosive legacy of an individual that we’re all familiar with - or at least familiar with his creations. The enigmatic figure that we are about to explore is an inventor, philanthropist, ruthless industrialist, and also a major representative of peace in the contemporary age.
This man’s most significant invention, dynamite, revolutionized the world at its creation, allowing for efficient construction, quickened the development of transportation systems, and enabled the process of mining in much greater volume; however, it also drastically changed military strategies, showing the World the extensive possibilities for destruction that exist.
Following this invention, his rise to wealth and power was incredible; however, a moral conundrum nagged at our figure as the feeling of responsibility ate away at him until he decided to make the change from merchant of death to an advocate of peace, with the creation of, spoiler alert, the Nobel Peace Prize.
Today’s podcast - we’re going to take a look at Alfred Nobel. We’re going to explore his life, the things that influenced him and the compelling story of how the Nobel Peace Prize came to be - so strap in for this Missing Chapter profile!
