Shen-Tel Lee on Kuching Food Aid and Cause-Driven Community Building.
Manage episode 342373610 series 3399342
Shen-Tel Lee is a graphic designer, multiple business owner and community builder, based between Sydney and Kuching in East Malaysia. In 2020, Shen-Tel started Kuching Food Aid, a community led project to deliver food aid to communities badly impacted by the Covid 19 lockdowns and suffering food insecurity.
Shen-Tel managed to rally her community and raised significant funds in record time. She also persuaded supermarket chains, volunteers and private businesses to get involved – donating time, their products and resources to the cause. Amazingly, she managed the logistics of this operation from almost 6,000 kilometers away in Sydney.
In this episode, we talk about:
- Communication on social media: visual storytelling, clear calls to action and how to invite people to get involved;
- Creating opportunities for government, NGO and the private sector to work together to solve big community problems;
- How brands can use their platforms and communities for good;
- Failure and why we need to talk about it
