Multi Grammy award winner Steve Vai is hailed by many as the greatest guitarist of all time. He has worked with some of the greatest names in the history of rock music. He is a composer, producer and has just released his tenth solo album; “Inviolate”.

Vai spoke to The Sync Report hosts Colin O’ Donoghue, Rose Ganguzza and Jason P Rothberg about his early music inspirations, being taught to play guitar by Joe Satriani, attending Berklee College of Music and going straight into working with Frank Zappa.

Vai’s career has spanned more than 40 years, working with such rock luminaries as David Lee Roth, Yngwie Malmsteen and Whitesnake, touring with Steve Lukather, Joe Satriani and John Petrucci as well as Generation Axe, a supergroup Vai formed with Zakk Wylde, Yngwie Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt and Tosin Abasi.

Vai has also been in the movies! Listen to Vai talk about being cast as the devil’s guitar player in director Walter Hill’s film; “Crossroads” and then talk about other films and video games his music has been licensed for.

Vai has recently released his new album "Inviolate," on CD and digitally (vinyl will be released in March) with nine instrumentals of his most honest work to date, including the album’s mesmeric opener, “Teeth of the Hydra,” that Vai wrote and recorded with a one-of-a-kind custom guitar he called the Hydra.

We spoke to Vai on The Sync Report about his life, music, guitars, composing and producing and releasing his 10th solo album: Inviolate.
