Advocates, have long emphasised the importance of men highlighting this critical Silent Pandemic, by amplifying their voices in the fight against this pervasive issue. This special episode of Thinking Reimagined, welcomes a “Men Only” panel to discuss the prevalence of Gender Based Violence and the role of men in addressing and preventing this insidious violation of women and children. By fostering open dialogue, challenging stereotypes, embracing alliances, prioritising education and engaging in collective action, we believe we can collectively create a respectable and safe world where everyone, regardless of gender, can live free from the shadow of violence. For the occasion of our annual Men’s only roundtable, The Thinking Reimagined Podcast®️ team of Peter Armand Boyo (Co-Producer, Director, Actor, Filmmaker & Brand Ambassador) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Co-host) welcomed Lehlohonolo Peega (Multi-instrumentalist, Composer, Scholar, Teacher, Music Sociologist and Musician of Note), Edet Anthony Offiong (Dance Artiste, Model, Actor, MC/Event Host, Idea Builder, Choreographer, Poetry, Music, and Carnival Coordinator) and Stanley Onuorah (The Online Banker), delve into the heightened level Gender Based Violence from the different forms of violence, to the underlying factors such as poverty, cultural norms, gender inequality, climate change, education and power dynamics in relationships and the society at large. There is necessary emphasis on the need for education, awareness, policy changes, accountability, addressing harmful notions of masculinity and changing the mindset. Panelists also shared personal stories and nuggets whilst raising concerns about the underreporting of violence particularly against men and boys.
