John Gentile currently serves as the Co-Director of the Office for Identity, Culture and Institutional Equity at the Horace Mann School. July 1, he will be joining the Calhoun School community as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. He is a principal consultant with the Glasgow Group, a faculty member of the Student Diversity Leadership Conference, and a committee member of the NYSAIS Diversity Committee. He is co-founder of (Re)Defining Power, a conference for white males in 6-12th grades exploring their role in equity work. Becca Mui is a queer, cis femme, biracial, social justice advocate. She is currently the Education Manager at GLSEN, a non-profit organization focused on LGBTQ support in K-12 schools. In her role, Becca creates resources, oversees GLSEN’s professional development program, and supports educators and administrators in creating LGBTQ-integrated schools. Becca received her Master’s in Education from Bank Street College with a specialization and certification in Literacy. She received a B.A. in English from the College of New Rochelle and a certification for NY State in Elementary Education. She worked for ten years as an elementary teacher, Equity and Inclusion Director, and LGBTQ coordinator.
