We had a great conversation with Maggie. This is the Linkedin post that caught our attention. We are hearing more and more about students assaulting teachers. Maggie tells her story.
I often get asked if I miss teaching.
Such a loaded question and the answer is yes and no.
I could go into a long list of things I don't miss but you have likely heard most of them before. My exit came when I was physically assaulted by a student, but it definitely wasn't the only reason.
But what I do miss is the laughter I shared with fellow teachers, the stories that you simply could not make up if you tried, the kids I had grown close to, and the bond that is created among teammates who have been in the trenches together.
But I found my life in sales to be so similar. The stories we share and struggles we experience gave me that same feeling that I was missing when I left the classroom. No one really understands what your day to day is unless they are going through it with you. The is an unspoken understanding between teachers and sales reps that says, "I'm right there with you and we will laugh about this later."
Trust and support from your team and leadership is everything.
So, yes I miss it. But, no I am not going back.
