This is so timely. I received an email yesterday from someone, who shall remain unnamed, in the online space saying they had spent $2 MILLION dollars on ads... This same someone also posts a LOT about how "easy" it is to just pop up a reel and make $$$$$. (And now 'every single business owner should run ads'... NO, NO YOU SHOULD NOT.) Make that make sense. So were going to discuss a bit of the implications of THAT. But mostly, this topic came up because I've had a number of clients ask me about ads and also tell me that their past coaches suggested that they should do ads. Personally, I think it's insane if someone is suggesting this to you just 'as a thing to do.' like brushing your teeth. NO. There are a lot of things to consider and look at if you're wanting to run ads - which BTW, I don't think is BAD, you just need to know what you're doing to get the results you're looking for - so I'm going over some of the things to consider BEFORE you start putting money down. This probably sounds really weird... I don't have expectations on outcomes for anything in my business and it's probably one of the best things I've done mindset wise for myself (and probably results wise). This is also a conversation I have with clients a lot that helps release so much of the pressure that we put on ourselves day to day. There are two main ways I see expectation come up that I talk about (and why neither are helpful), as well as how you can release your expectations, keep your goals, and make more progress in your business! What are you avoiding right now because you're telling yourself a story about what 'might' happen... We all do this. Making up stories around scenarios we think might happen before they do so we don't take action on the very thing that's going to make the difference and get you the results you actually want. It often looks like almost catastrophizing and thinking it's going to be something you can't handle without knowing what's actually going to happen because you aren't yet doing the "thing." And until you do it - you won't know. Sometimes you're going to have to sit into this discomfort instead of letting your mind take over and tell you stories about what 'might' happen. Because the reality could be vastly different. Today, I'm challenging you to get out of avoidance and do the 'thing' for you (I give a few examples so you'll be able to identify yours!) that's holding you back from the results and success you want! It's about more than Blake Lively... this affects all of us 20:19

Light trigger warning on this one - I don't talk explicit details about sexual harassment or sexual abuse, but that's what this is about. This is about so much more than celebrities and Blake Lively. What her case is doing is highlighting a real problem that women face every day. The biggest issue here, is all the women that see, over and over, the messages around - "so many women make false reports", "she's obviously lying" (with no basis behind that statement other than she just must be), and the sheer amount of victim blaming and shaming rather than actually holding someone accountable for their actions. This sets a precedent and sends a message to every woman that has or will experience the same thing - you're lying, it was your fault, you 'deserved' this (and yes I've actually seen that one and it was a few times unfortunately to women talking about their own experience...), and overall do not report anything if it happens to you because no one is going to believe it and nothing is going to be done. I choose to believe that by talking about this, whether it directly relates to business or not, I'm going to put another message out and it's going to reach the women it needs to.
