Good morning, New York City! This is your weather update for the weekend, coming in hot... or rather, cold!
Today, we're looking at a classic New York winter mix. Expect showers rolling in after 1 pm, with temperatures hovering around 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Those south winds will be gusting up to 21 miles per hour, so hold onto your hats! There's a 70 percent chance of precipitation, but we're talking less than a tenth of an inch.
Tonight gets a bit chilly, with a 20 percent chance of showers before 10 pm. Temperatures will drop to around 34 degrees Fahrenheit, and those winds will shift from southwest to northwest.
Sunday is where things get interesting, folks! We're talking rain and snow before 1 pm, transitioning to pure snow. Temperatures will plummet to 32 degrees Fahrenheit by evening, with wind chill making it feel between 20 and 30 degrees. Bundle up! We're expecting 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation.
Sunday night continues the winter wonderland with more snow likely before 1 am. Temperatures will dip to a brisk 19 degrees Fahrenheit, with wind chills between 5 and 15 degrees. Another 1 to 2 inches of snow is possible.
Martin Luther King Day looks sunny but cold, with a high of 26 degrees Fahrenheit. Monday night will be crystal clear but freezing at 10 degrees.
Tuesday brings increasing clouds and cold, with a high near 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Tuesday night has a 30 percent chance of snow after 1 am.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny and cold, with Thursday offering a slight warm-up to 27 degrees Fahrenheit.
