Good morning, weather watchers! This is your friendly neighborhood meteorologist coming to you with the latest forecast for New York City.
Today's looking like a stunner with mostly sunny skies and temperatures climbing to a pleasant 54 degrees Fahrenheit. Those gentle winds will be doing a little dance, starting light and variable before settling into an eastern breeze around 5 to 9 miles per hour in the afternoon.
But hold onto your party hats, because tonight is New Year's Eve, and Mother Nature has some dramatic plans! We're talking rain with a possible thunderstorm before 1 AM, transitioning to scattered showers throughout the night. Expect temperatures holding steady around 47 degrees and winds shifting from east to west.
New Year's Day itself will be a bit moody, with a 20 percent chance of showers and cloudy conditions. Temperatures will hover near 51 degrees, but watch out for those winds! They'll be kicking up to 19 to 24 miles per hour in the afternoon, with gusts potentially reaching 34 miles per hour.
The rest of the week looks like a rollercoaster of temperatures. We'll see mostly sunny days with highs ranging from the mid-30s to low 40s, and some chilly nights dipping down to the upper 20s.
Weekend forecast? Partly sunny and crisp, with a slight chance of snow early next week.
