Voting has always been pitched to us as the way in which we have our voices heard, a way we can have our voices hears and a means by which we can bring about societal and political change.

But if voting really worked would they allow us to do it? For my American listeners you are smack bang in the middle of your upcoming election. Yet you have something we Aussies don't have, the right to engage or not. That's right for Aussies like my guest and I we are mandated to vote, it is a compulsory "civic duty".

Recently Wade has had to do just that. Queensland has just had a state election with some status quo changing outcomes. To help me discuss the Queensland election results I am joined by the Tropical Canadian himself, my mate and yours, Wade.
