The Miami Heat played some of their best team defense of the season- holding Utah to under 40% shooting and forcing 17 turnovers- and Jaime Jacquez Jr. scored 5 points in the final 1:03 of the game to lead the Heat past the Utah Jazz 97-92 on the road in Salt Lake City.

The loss is the 8th in a row at home by the Jazz, who are just 2-13 overall at the old Salt Palace.

The Heat improve to 10-0 when holding their opponent under 100 points. The 2nd quarter was Utah’s lowest scoring quarter of the season. (14 pts)

Jaime Jaquez Jr scored 20 points, including 5 in the final 1:03 of the game to put it away for Miami. Jaime is averaging 16 points per game over his last 3 games. He added 7 rebounds, 7 assists & 5 steals tonight.

Tyler Herro pumped in 23 points for Miami, on the night when he set the record for consecutive games with a made 3-point shot. (70 in a row, breaking teammate Duncan Robinson’s record of 69, set in 2021)

Bam Adebayo threw in 15 points & 7 boards for the Heat, who continue to fight hard every night without suspended star Jimmy Butler.

The Heat scored 17 fast-break points, and held their own on the glass and in the paint.

In a ragged game with 31 combined turnovers and both teams shooting under 40%, the Heat made the most of transition points (17-7) and hustle plays when it mattered.

Collin Sexton and Lauri Markkanen each scored 23 for Utah, which has lost nine in a row at home.

The Heat had just lost to the Jazz by 36 points at home in the first game of Jimmy Butler's suspension, but they have improved each game since, losing in two overtimes to Sacramento before winning against Golden State and Utah.

Miami visits Portland to play the TrailBlazers on Saturday. Tip is at 10pm ET.
