Her work focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying dementia to advance diagnostic and therapeutic solutions. Currently, Dr. Flanagan serves as Neuropathology Core Co-Leader for the South Texas ADRC, Co-Director of the Biggs Institute Brain Bank, and Director of the Nun Study on Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease. Her multidisciplinary laboratory integrates molecular platforms, biomarker development, biostatistics, and epidemiology to explore dementia mechanisms and develop biomarkers for early neurodegeneration detection.
