hi everybody! carey here on behalf of megan and carey with a quick logistical note. morph club is switching from soundcloud to anchor for episode hosting! the old episodes will still be accessible once we redirect the feed, so it should hopefully be a seamless experience on the listening end. But most soundcloud episodes will be hidden once we downgrade that account, so if you have any deep-seated attachment to them or any comments you made there, now is the time to download and save them yourselves! especially episode #22 , megamorphs 2, which anchor refused to recognize and import, so maybe we accidentally stumbled on some truth about yeerks in there that the world wasn't ready for?? we'll leave that ep up on soundcloud. Ax is in truly fine form. Tobias shows off his flying (and... driving...?) skills. Cassie and Jake have very little screen time but manage to devastate us anyway. Capers continue right up until the very last page, at which point the invasion is made suddenly, jarringly public. Open warfare has snuck up from its usual spot just around the corner and is cuddled right up next to you on the couch. We've got three books left. We are very, very worried but very, very grateful that all of you are along with us for this horrible ride. We talk through and about that storyline and its pitfalls in the first ~25 minutes of the ep, and then devote the rest to our sad, sad present-day teens, who are desperately fighting alongside the free Hork-Bajir to protect their valley from a full Yeerk assault. We allowed ourselves to hope, for one brief moment, that Cassie going to Australia might be part of some kind of... relaxation break. Perhaps one of your human "Vacations." Tragically, we were, as always, completely wrong. BUT DON'T GIVE UP YET! The battle wages on!! We found a lot to like in this book: Cassie draws on her absent friends to make it through her ordeal; foraging for equipment and food to survives takes some unexpectedly sweet cargo-hold turns; we don't spend TOO long hearing about how buff and horrible kangaroos are; there's one last bittersweet blissful mall decompression at the very end; and no good dogs die. You gotta taste those mouth pleasures while you can before the inevitable reveal of your nefarious plan. We understand. Megan and Carey read Animorphs #37, The Weakness! Listen. This book, was, maybe, not, the FINEST quality. It was maybe a bit of a rehash. And not like, a tasty sweet potato and fried egg hash. Like, a hash of heavy-handed cobbled-together bits that retread some familiar ground for Rachel, Empire King, who honestly deserves better. BUT: WE UNDERSTAND, these things happen on deadline! AND ALSO ax is a treat, there are some good emotional beats where the kids talk through taking responsibility for your mistakes, and visser 3 has a FAST RIVAL!!! who is maybe sonic the hedgehog?? jury's still out.
