You train up children while they're young. So that way they learn and get used to doing things and become acclimated to what is required of them when they become older. And that's what the Lord is telling this generation; Train them now, as they're young, so that way they can rejoice when I rejoice. This generation is having to learn on the fly essentially after growing up in a lifetime of sin. The Lord is saying get rid of this thing that doesn't reflect the Lord's. nature and character, get rid of that thing for the same reason; however, that doesn't have to be the child's life.
