Dr Rick Johnson is 1. Richard J. Johnson, M.D. is the Tomas Berl Professor of Medicine and was the Chief of the Renal Division and Hypertension at the University of Colorado until recently. His research, which has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has focused on the role of sugar, and especially fructose, in driving obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease. He is the author of The Sugar Fix) and The Fat Switch. His new book is called Nature Wants Us To Be Fat…the surprising science behind why we gain weight - and how we can prevent and reverse it.
