After spending ten years in the NFL, Jadeveon Clowney is finally back home in the Carolina's. Clowney signed a two-year, $20 million max deal to return to Charlotte to play for the Carolina Panthers in 2024 and 2025. Clowney's return home coincides with Brian Burns departure from Carolina. Can Clowney prove to be a suitable replacement for Burns and put in his first Pro Bowl season since 2018?

Outside of Clowney, the rest of the Panthers edge rusher groups presents serious questions heading into 2024. D.J. Wonnum signed with Carolina during the early days of free agency but was unable to participate during the offseason program as he continued to recover from a partially torn quad. The Panthers traded up into the 3rd round of the 2023 NFL Draft to select DJ Johnson but Johnson's rookie season yielding middling results including zero sacks.

Last season, Carolina kept six edge rushers on the initial 53-man roster. One of those player was Amare Barno, who is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 16 vs Green Bay. It's unlikely that Barno will be available once the roster cutdowns are made in late-August. How will that impact the Panthers numbers? Will the Panthers look to add another edge rusher off the waiver wire?
