I know it mind sound incredibly selfish but I want my husband to look good and take care of his skin. I am married to him and to some extent he represents me and I want him to be the best version of himself. Even though there are men who like to take care of themselves and have already adopted a skincare regime the majority of them still don’t. The $64 million question in my household at the moment is: Why not? Some of the conclusions we came up with are: they are too lazy, they think it’s too complicated, they think it’s for girls, that it’s just a female thing to get into, they can’t be bothered, or they’re too cynical of the marketing, they don’t think it works. If you have any answer to this question, please do let us know!!!!! Today I’m here to support you and all the other women that have come up to me and said “I can’t make him do it” and give you some ideas on how to get around those old fashioned arguments and sort of manipulate them towards it Tip number one: lay all the products out in your bathroom or by the sink. Put yours on one side, theirs on the other. When the products are right in front of them they’re so much more likely to do it because there are not that many excuses for them not to do it and you can even try and build it into a routine when you’re getting ready for bed. Another tip is: Don’t wait for them to go out and buy the products themselves. Buy them the products they need. Gift it to them. Always make sure you’re buying products for the ingredients and not for the pretty packaging. In the worst case scenario (when they don’t use anything you’ve bought them) use the products yourself (so always keep in mind the products you could also use before buying anything for him; just in case you are the one having to use it in the end). Use a more appealing language. Instead of pushing a skincare routine to prevent wrinkles on them (which most men are not that interested in) try and bring the skincare routine to their world. For example: if your husband is into going to the gym and training, point out that having a skincare routine will help his skin post training and help him feel better after a long hour in the gym, preventing spots and making him feel fresh. Make him care about it. Lastly, before introducing all these serums and moisturisers that sound complicated to beginners start with obvious products: cleansers and shaving product Take everything in baby steps and build up from there.
