In this fifth part of this six episode series focusing on the Story of the Bible, this episode focuses on the church and the part that we are playing - and writing - today in our lives.
After intros and coffee talk (0:00-4:57), the guys recap the story so far, leading into this Act 5 of the church, including the storyline of the human vocation and the theme of sacred space. They discuss, too, what Jesus meant when He said that it was better that He leave and the Holy Spirit comes, and why that is important (4:58-13:11). Next, they talk about how we are actively writing our part in the Story today, and how God is forming a people for the Act 6 New Creation. They also discuss the relationship between Israel and the church, and the importance the fruits of the Spirit and the Great Commission have for our lives today (13:12-22:14). They then move into a conversation about how we are in a holding pattern in Act 5 as we work towards New Creation, and that what we do is critical and it matters (22:15-24:47). They next talk about the difference between building the Kingdom vs. joining in with what God is doing in the world already (24:48-26:59). Finally, they discuss the inherently intuitive nature of what Jesus calls us to do in our lives and why we don't need to live for just a moment of glory for Jesus, but rather that we need to live our lives day to day and watch Jesus at work around us in the ordinary and the mundane. They also talk about why evangelism needs to take place in your everyday rhythms of life, concluding in a conversation about the need to be tuned in to God's presence and to be faithfully present in the lives of those around us (27:00-37:32).
