In this episode, I’m excited to dive into a unique story that spans music, culture, and resilience. Welcoming back my mom, who grew up in 1950s Jamaica, was a member of Jamaica’s first all-girls band, The Carnations, and continued her music career in America.

This conversation sheds light on her experiences in the vibrant Jamaican music scene, her journey as an immigrant to the U.S., and what it meant to be part of a unique Chinese minority in a predominantly Black Jamaican society.

I love sharing stories about the Chinese Jamaican diaspora and hope you’ll enjoy the episode.
