Dr. B sheds light on the challenges of self-care. She understands that taking care of ourselves can be tough when we have so many other responsibilities to juggle. Drawing from her own personal journey, Dr. B shares how she neglected her own well-being for a staggering 17 years while prioritizing the needs of her children, especially those with health issues.
Throughout those difficult years, Dr. B faced various hardships, including the heartbreaking loss of three children. Despite these heartbreaking tragedies, she remained devoted to helping others and even founded Mentally Strong, her own organization, to support more people. However, she eventually realized that she had forgotten to take care of herself along the way. During a 45-day period of her grief journey, she made a commitment to self-care by engaging in activities like meditation and learning about different grief theories.
On the 20th day of her self-care journey, something profound struck Dr. B. She realized that she had been neglecting her own health, With no one else relying on her care anymore, she knew it was time to stop making excuses and start prioritizing her own well-being. Dr. B wants everyone to understand that self-care isn't about following a strict formula; it's about finding what works for you. She encourages you to explore and discover activities that fill your cup and nurture your mental strength.
