In this third part of this six episode series focusing on the Story of the Bible, this episode focuses on the large chunk of the Bible that is the story of Israel. This large act starts in Genesis 12 and covers the rest of the Old Testament. After intros and coffee talk (0:00-3:59), the guys recap the story so far, including the two main themes of the human vocation and sacred space, leading into Act 3 - Israel (4:00-9:46). They then begin their discussion of Act 3, starting with the situation at the beginning of Genesis 12, as the Biblical story zooms in on Abraham and his family, and they talk about why God called Abraham in the first place. They also discuss why sometimes the Old Testament can be difficult to understand and read, but how it is such a critical part of the story to be familiar with in order to fully understand Jesus (9:47-16:07). Next, they talk about how the Act 3 story of Israel ties into the vocation of humanity, and they discuss the correlation between the call of humanity back in Act 1 with Abraham's call in Genesis 12, along with Jesus' Great Commission at the end of Act 4 (16:08-24:10). They then give a shortened version of the story of Israel as told in the Old Testament, giving a brief overview of each section, from the Pentateuch through the narratives of the kings (Samuel and Kings), culminating in the prophets. They highlight the key moments of the Exodus and the Exile, touching also on the Law and Israel's role as a light to the nations. They also discuss how the story of Israel is a journey of the human vocation, and touch on Act 3's relationship with Act 1 and the garden, as well as the Act 2 Fall (24:11-44:07). Next, they move into a discussion on how the story of Israel ends on a cliffhanger, in similar fashion to Genesis 3-11, and how Jesus is set up in the story of Israel (44:08-46:50). They then talk about the destruction of the temple in the Old Testament, and how devastating this was for the Israelites, and how this ties in with the theme of sacred space, bleeding into the New Testament and Act 4. They also discuss how, in a sense, we are still in exile from our true home and purpose (46:51-50:59). Closing down the discussion, they talk about the hopeful expectation at the end of Act 3 that there will be someone who will take up the mantle of Israel, for Israel and the nations, on behalf of God, concluding with their takeaways and the overall importance of the story of Israel (51:00-57:53). This episode wastes no time jumping right where we left off in the last episode (so, for the coffee portion, refer to the last episode). This episode mainly focuses around hypothetical/devil's advocate (pun intended?) questions from Jordan, and the various responses in relation to the topic of Hell. This episode kicks off running with the question - "What about people that don't believe in Jesus but also don't have themselves as the center of their life? Or good people that haven't heard about Jesus?" - and the guys kick around and develop this throughout the whole episode. To learn more, visit us at www.thegoodbrewpodcast.com and follow us on social media @goodbrewpodcast Thanks for listening!…

Here's our latest question and discussion episode! This episode focuses on two questions, one from the Rapture episode (Episode 5) and one from the Law episode (Episode 13). Enjoy! Question #1: Do you believe in the Bema seat judgment and the Great White judgment as being two separate events, and in what order will those judgments occur at the end? (0:36-18:04) Question #2: Can you clarify your comment that the Old Testament sacrifices were not precursors to Jesus, and is it a slippery slope to say that the Israelites performed sacrifices just because the surrounding nations did so? If you have any questions, submit them to us at info@thegoodbrewpodcast.com or submit them to us on social media @goodbrewpodcast Be sure to check out our website at www.thegoodbrewpodcast.com and our other episodes available now! Thanks for listening!…
