Insulin Resistance with Shana Hussin
Manage episode 427013416 series 2889317
There is a strong connection between environmental toxicants and the development of type 2 diabetes. However, our environment is just one of many reasons why someone may develop diabetes. We must take a holistic approach and control as many other factors as possible to help prevent the development of diabetes, or perhaps improve some of the symptoms we experience from it.
Around 38% of people worldwide have insulin resistance. People with insulin resistance, also known as impaired insulin sensitivity, have built up a tolerance to insulin, making the hormone less effective.
As a result, they are at greater risk of developing diabetes.
That’s why we are so excited to chat today with insulin resistance expert, Shana Hussin.
Shana is an integrative dietitian, online course creator, and podcast host that specializes in obesity, type 2 diabetes, PCOS, and fatty liver disease.
During this Live, we’re going to discuss signs of insulin resistance, foods to eat and avoid, including some surprising ones, as well as other ways to prevent type 2 diabetes.
